Cautionary tale about Online Fraud & [email protected]

Let the following be a cautionary tale for other online traders - it would appear that the web has flooded with stolen credit card details originating from Switzerland. At Omerta we've seen a significant rise in fraudulent orders whereby the bank details have been Swiss whilst the delivery address being in a different country altogether.

Besides these orders having suspicious delivery addresses, the perpetrators also are in the habit of being extraordinarily nervous and feel the need to email every day to chase their order through the system (and out the door).

Uwe Michalk of Leipzig & Thomas Teuscher

Uwe Michalk of Leipzig & Thomas Teuscher, in particular, deserve a honourable mention - He/they took it upon themselves to order from us this week & then claim the order was fraudulent. Any trader conversing with [email protected] needs to be aware that the person is most likely a scammer using two identities - Thomas Teuscher & Uwe Michalk, one living in Leipzig and the other Switzerland.

How will this affect future orders?

Orders will no longer be available for delivery to anywhere other than the billing address. If you have a genuine requirement for delivery to a different address then we suggest contacting us prior to your order & we will assess the viability of shipping to an alternative location.

It sucks that people can't play fair...

At Omerta we want to do our upmost to deliver a great service & it sucks that we have to impose rules which reduce the accessibility of our service. However, online fraud is serious. Most customers don't realise it, but when a merchant processes a fraudulent payment it is the merchant whom is held to account. This makes online fraud a serious danger to business as well as to customers. Hopefully the above will help other traders who might be currently processing orders for Uwe Michalk & Thomas Teuscher.
